A recent June afternoon provided me with the long-awaited opportunity to visit the Roseville branch of the Ramsey County Library in Minnesota, and I got to see the team there in action as they launched the library’s summer reading program, BookaWocky: Your Summer Library Experience. The vibrant space was humming as people streamed in to sign up their kids and stayed to enjoy many activities being offered as part of the Children’s Summer Festival. My son settled in quickly with a book, and I toured the spaces nearby to see how this LJ New Landmark Library is standing up to the test of time—quite nicely, I think. Below are a few scenes from the day, including views of the colorful nook that has graced SLJ‘s cover, the hopping entry area, a sense of remove provided by the more sequestered second floor, a new graffiti art installation in the teen space, and proof that the alphabet maze at the entry to the children’s area still fascinates young minds.
